Por Keli Parayana das.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Estamos prontos a definir uma tradição milenar que passou por inúmeras e profundas transformações e adaptações, no entanto Yoga se define como sendo uma ciência de integração de corpo, mente e espírito; e conta com mais de cinco mil anos de história.&lt;br /&gt;A palavra yoga, em sânscrito pode ser remetida a sua raiz verbal Yug, que significa raiz, onde tudo se concentra para um novo recomeço, união, integração, micro e macro cosmos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  Os yoga sutras de Patanjali se tornaram uns dos maiores ícones no estudo de Yoga, e neles se define Yoga como sendo a aptidão de dirigir a mente exclusivamente para o objeto e sustentá-la naquela direção sem distração. Importante é que todos saibam disto, mas não deveríamos cair no erro de imaginar que o atual contexto de uma sala de aulas tenha algo a ver com o método de ensino daquela época. &lt;br /&gt;Na realidade as aulas de yoga a cinco mil anos atrás eram bem diferentes do que vemos hoje em dia. A mudança de estrutura ocorrera nas primeiras décadas do 1900, quando em Bombaim, Índia, com intuito de resgatar o interesse popular pela cultura própria, em oposição à repressão inglesa, se formatou as aulas de yoga como se apresentam hoje. &lt;br /&gt;Agora abertas ao público leigo, buscando atraí-los pelos resultados das práticas desta tradição. Num local público e com participação semanal, com horários fixos, sem levar em conta outras questões, que como em outras épocas, seria restrito a uma platéia seleta e reduzida; a maior parte ascetas renunciantes com intuito estrito e determinado, fixados na auto-realização.&lt;br /&gt; Aqueles yoguis se dedicavam a longos anos de treinamento rigoroso, que incluiriam muitas horas de recolhimento às práticas de asanas, observação e meditação, com intenções de elevar, alterar o estado da consciência. Em geral com votos de pobreza e celibato, estes praticantes se mantinham fixos no seu objetivo de liberação espiritual, com o apoio de uma cultura local que enfatizava a entrega ao Guru ou mestre, que o instruiria nos mais diversos temas. E mesmo as práticas de asanas eram desenvolvidas seguindo o que o Guru faria. Estas asanas nunca estariam desligadas ou isoladas do cultivo de consciência espiritual, longe do caminho espiritual.&lt;br /&gt;Por outro lado a mudança do formato das aulas de yoga contemporâneo, veio para fazer uma ponte entre esta ciência maravilhosa e o público em geral, que poderia se beneficiar em termos de saúde, e ao mesmo tempo valorizar novamente sua tradição.&lt;br /&gt;A prática de Hatha Yoga era mantida em secreto, por ascetas reclusos, que quanto mais se aprofundavam no estudo, mais difícil se tornaria o encontro com o grande público. &lt;br /&gt;Assim sendo nunca haveria neles a idéia de uma grande organização mundial de Yoga, muito pelo contrário, o ingresso a práticas ocultas, era só para os iniciados, avançados nas práticas ocultas.&lt;br /&gt;Devido a este motivo, muitas escolas de Hatha contam com pouca idade, pois os formatos organizacionais foram mudando até o que vemos hoje.&lt;br /&gt;Com o crescimento do novo formato da prática de Yoga, os praticantes poderiam manter relacionamentos familiares e emprego fixo, somente se dirigindo à sala de aulas algumas vezes por semana, se ocupar na prática de asanas e meditação, e depois do horário preestabelecido, retornar ao aconchego do lar. Esta nova estrutura fora por demais benéfica para as populações leigas, que utilizaram seu tempo livre para tal prática. &lt;br /&gt;E Yoga passou a ser uma prática semanal, livre de compromisso com conduta pessoal ou mesmo ética, tão exaltada por Patanjali no seu Yoga Sutra.&lt;br /&gt;Podemos afirmar que as posturas de Yoga são como posturas perante a vida! E a vida vai mudando, desta maneira essas mudanças na estrutura tradicional se tornaram algo saudável para o Yoga.&lt;br /&gt;Claro que não devemos ser ingênuos o suficiente como para não ver os perigos de uma mudança nas tradições. O objetivo essencial deveria ser mantido, para poder expandir, mas sem perder o cerne. A tradicional prática de yoga hoje pode ser confundida com meras práticas de asanas, exercícios físicos, sem menção alguma à espiritualidade, mais isto só acontecera por um descuidado crescimento, tomando proporções empresariais, encarando yoga como negócio lucrativo, yoga na moda, yoga nas academias de musculação, como mais uma prática de malhação, e o culto ao professor/a como sendo uma “estrela guia”. Assim se chegou também a competições, eficácia e sucesso trazidos para o campo de yoga.&lt;br /&gt; Esta abordagem simplista enfatiza o aperfeiçoamento da postura final, ao invés de se concentrar no processo de transformação que ocorre durante o caminho do praticante até a asana. Que seria o objetivo de Hatha Yoga, como integração do ser humano, e numa visão superior, mais experiente, integração com o Todo.
